Long-distance move from Sarasota, FL to Waukesha, WI

AVOID MY MISTAKE - DO NOT HIRE

About 6 months ago I had Keystone move my apartment across the States. The pickup crew was swift, gentle, and cordial, but by the time my shipment made it to me about a week later, countless items and furniture were crushed, scuffed, punctured, or otherwise damaged/broken. I had to meticulously write down and take photos of things for claimed damages before the single mover could leave. The mover also arrived days earlier than expected, which meant I didn't have any time to recover from my cross-country commute before having to deal with the unloading. I was lucky to have arrived just before them.

When it was obvious that no action was going to happen after filling out their claims form, I called weeks later to remind them of the damages. I was told they would reach out to me later that week via email to address things. This never happened. This would also be the only phone call from my number that reached a person, as all my other calls went to voicemail. (Coincidentally, when calling from a different phone number, they picked up just fine.) My emails to them also received no reply. Terrible experience from a terrible company. Will never work with them or trust anyone with my property ever again.

ON'T LET MY NIGHTMARE BECOME YOURS!

WE EVEN FOUND ROACHES IN OUR BOXES!!!

I don't even know where to start with the experience. One of the past reviews read, 'If you want all your stuff destroyed, use these guys.' This statement holds true.

Nearly everything they packed or transported was broken or damaged. We are missing boxes, broken dishes, dented kitchen appliances, multiple toolboxes are missing, picture frames are scratched, and the truck leaked, which damaged a mattress, clothes, etc...

We even had to give back some boxes because they gave us someone els's things...

We plan on taking this to civil court; it is just painful because some of the things that were damaged are priceless due to family vacation memories.

Keystone Moving Worse.

Be Warned Now! The quote you get from this company will be off by 1000s of dollars. Further more Amber or Jerry never return one of our calls after they received our money after we relocated to Ca.

We were over charged by Ambers go to, Bright Van Lines Carrier! For one day We were charged 600.00 additional monies because the carrier would not accept a debit or Credit Card, it had to be Cash Money.

Our furniture has been damaged because of people who were apparently not trained properly to pack, and the of understanding.

Even the carrier Bright Van Lines said that’s what get for going with a broker like Keystone Moving Group.

We arrived in Ca just in time to be in the worst situation you could imagine because of the Pandemic.

I strongly feel that price gauging is against the law in times that we are all going thru.

Lying and cheating is always wrong but it seems even harder in a crisis.

Not only were we deliberately lied to about the entire process but than we could not even get a return phone call about anything that had happened to us. At this point all I can do is warn you if your reading this, Keystone Moving Group will take your money and leave you high and dry.

I’m out 1000s because I trusted these people. They do not care! Take the time and make a few other calls and forget you ever looked up Keystone Moving.

We are so sorry your experience. You were serviced on 2/14 and there were no complaints at the time of pickup. We did not hear from the customer until 3/09 with the delivery address and the customer stating they are ready for delivery. On 4/7 customer was delivered but had an added charge for redeliver fee due to the fact the customer was not available for the first delivery. When the carrier have to wait overnight for a customer then yes it will add an additional charge for the wait time, the fee was $600 the carrier explained this to the customer. In all emails we try to make the customer aware of the type of payment that is accepted at delivery which is cash or postal money order. We do apologize this was not explained in detail to the customer. The carrier is responsible for your damages and we do try to provide all customers with the information to file the claims. We again are sorry that the carrier were saying the things they said and that you had this experience with this carrier. We prayed that your claims was resolved and that you and your family stay safe. Have a great day.

Long-distance move from Webster, MA to Surprise, AZ

Not professional and over priced.

Came two days after I requested. I requested the Truck between the 25th-29th. Told me at first it would be 2,800 for a 1-2 bd apartment. Then told me it would be 4,100 three days before the move due to ACTUALLY having boxes since I RSVP this truck four months before moving. Obviously I wasn’t going to know how many boxes I would have. THEN told me the day they got my stuff was 5K. Told me I would pay in thirds, (day I RSVP the truck, day they arrived and then the day they drop everything off) yet made me pay the rest through VENMO to a personal account the day they picked my stuff up. Said my stuff would be there in under two weeks. Got my stuff over a week after the drop off time and then left all the trash on the front porch. When I called to ask where the driver was, they txt me the drivers number and told me to ask him myself. That isn’t my responsibility. I shouldn’t have to call the driver myself. It’s your business with my stuff.

We at Keystone understand the customer's frustration and why the customer may be upset. The customer did first booked this job on 10/24/2020 their pickup dates were between 1/25-1/29 we ask the customers please do not make any travel plans for those dates on the verification call. The carrier arrived on 1/27 to service the move for the customer. The original estimate was quoted at the price for 344cf which was $2848. We understand that the customer did not have all the inventory at the time of the initial call so that is why we do the Quality Assurance call to go over the inventory once again before the pickup. At any time the customer could have called us to adjust the inventory earlier if needed to. We did not know if we were loading the boxes or if they were going to take the boxes themselves at this time. Some customers do decide to take the boxes themselves and we just load the bigger furniture, so we do apologize for not knowing the box count for the customer. During the Quality Assurance call being that the customer added the boxes at this time this in fact increased the price of the move. The customer did go from 344cf to 514cf which is a 170cf increase at $7.00 per cf. Yes the new estimate was $4327.81 for the additional space on the truck. At the time the customer agreed to the changes and signed the estimate for the new price. Keystone did not collect any more money from the customer. Once the carrier arrived on 1/27 they gave the customer a worse case scenario of 700 cf, customer had between 600- 650 cf and was charged accordingly for the space they used on the truck. We give the customer the closes estimate based off the inventory that is provided by the customer. On the day of the pickup we were available I spoke to the foreman throughout the pickup and he let me know about the overages and there were no complaints from the customer at this time, regarding the payment at the time of pickup the foreman suggested that she can pay Venmo, which is one of the options of the pickup payment Cash, Postal Money Order, Zelle, Venmo, Cashier's Check or Wire Transfer, the customer did a wire transfer instead and the carrier received it on 2/3/2021. Regarding Delivery ETA, please understand in all our emails we send out to the customer that the pickup and delivery dates are estimated dates. The customer was going 2700 miles, by DOT laws and regulations the carrier has up to 21-30 business days to deliver a customer, but they do try to get the deliveries out as soon as possible. We do provide the customer with the driver number most of the time due to the fact he will have a better eta for your delivery than we will have. The customer was picked up on 1/27 and delivered on I believe on 2/12 or 2/13 which was 12 business day not even two weeks, this is great with the mileages it was going. We again apologize for the delay of delivery as well to the customer. We are striving to be a better company and will take all that was stated into consideration and improve. We wish that the customer would have reached out with more details while the move was in progress so we could have addressed the situation accordingly. We thank you for your feedback and pray that you and your family are safe in your new home.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Worst experience!! They grossly underestimate your quote and not tell you initially they are a broker! They use movers who sub out the move. When third party movers arrived, we ended up paying thousands over original quote.

When delivery finally showed up, they were late from original time frame and was forced to sign Bill of lading and pay prior to off loading items.

Multiple pieces of furniture were broken beyond repair. I had half of my shipment missing and was told another truck was coming in an hour. They did not! 2 weeks later received partial items again and more broken and missing furniture parts! Do not go with this company! Scammers!

Sally, some of your accusations are incorrect. First and foremost I have been in contact with you through all this and I am still trying to be here for you during this time and let you know that we will do what we can on our end once the claims is filed with the carrier. You said we never mention we were brokers, this let me know you did not read over your paperwork and emails. You were not underestimated with us, you had more items. I know your upset and I understand the reason, but like I have told you in all emails you have to file a claim. Yes I was upset that they delivered your items in two parts too. We stayed on top of that for you as well. You were picked up on 3/20 and you did not call about them charging you more or anything because you had more items and used more space on the truck. The next time we heard from you 3/23/2021 regarding your delivery, where you then said "I will call every day until I get an update", I told you that is fine and do not be upset if I don`t have an update for you. Not one time was it mention about the overages at pickup and what we provide to the customers is exactly that, an estimate. So you started with 1220 cf and you went up 250cf at the same price per cubic feet $5.00. With us you had 113 pieces and once the carrier loaded it was a total of 182 pieces that about 69 more pieces than you provided to us. This will increase your price and the space used on the truck. According to DOT and FMCSA you are to pay and sign prior to loading and unloading. You did not call the day of delivery until after the carriers have left and I spoke with you. That is how we knew you only had half your items and I was upset with this as well. I asked you why you did not call me while the carrier was there so I could address the situation while they were there at the location. On 4/17 your other items were delivered damaged which I do understand I would be upset as well, but I also informed you that the carrier is responsible for the damages and you have to file the claim. Once they gave you a settlement, I stated to you that I would check on my end to see what we can do but no guarantees. Now I am replying to your review when you have not gave me the chance to speak to upper management in details about everything and to see what they can get out of the carrier. We have not washed our hands with your situation, we are just holding the carriers responsible for not caring for your items and not doing a good job on your move. We have not had a problem with this carrier before but I will not be using them after this situation and I will still do my best to help you in regards to this review.

Worst Experience Ever!

I had a storage unit in Fla loaded & brought to me in NY- I was not there. Jerry comes across as being sincere- gives you a govt site to look up moving companys and their reviews. What they do Not explain is they r a Broker & you deal with 2 other companys besides them. So naturally I had some more boxes than I realized-15- was charged $1000 more. That was also after taking out a king size bed & replacing with a queen. Going back & forth with Amber & Driver- Jerry stopped taking the calls- Amber is the Nastiest person I have ever dealt with & I'm in Customer Service- She belittled my words over everything dealing with $, made sarcastic comments that I was looking for a refund of the $89 - they also charge for using a credit card- make sure to read everything- Do Not Go By Anything Any of These Co.'s say or promise. The 2nd Co. that I paid with CC went over the amount by $89 of charge they made me fill out online- Amber & Samantha sent over a form that Keystone would pay me back the $89 as long as I sign a form- also stating I did not bash them on Social Media etc- Amazing! Then said I can fill it out after I receive my items. Amber was literally screaming & yelling at me- And had the audacity to say I was a nasty person. Such Great Customer Skills- obviously hides in an office behind a phone- hung up on her- The movers that brought the items-3rd Co. Now- were amazing! All of my items were not brought -described & pics sent- boxes that were packed by them almost empty- $ robbed from me- plenty of items missing - A Sin- personal meaningful items- that I wanted as My Husband passed almost 7 yrs ago & wanted- that's how long I was paying for storage- So chalk it up as a huge mistake- should have done it myself- The bank credited my card of $89 charge- No Problem they said Worst Experience Ever & I had my husband pass away. They should ALL be ASHAMED & Put out of business- Theives & Liars.

Mrs Lang, I'm sorry to say but nothing was ever stolen from you or any customer. We have a 4 year track record of this, why would we steal "sentimental items of your husband", that doesn't even make sense, I'm sorry.

We sat there for over 2 hours while you loaded and unloaded individual items asking the cost of every single item as we loaded it, which we accomodated.

You were picked up on time.
Delivered on time.
No damages.
Fair price.

I am sorry you feel you had a bad experience, as the owner please reach out to us and ask for the owner to see if we can't do something to make this right.

Long-distance move from Texas to Michigan

Horrible experience.

This company purposely gave us an inaccurate quote. So here’s the scheme. They’ll give you a cheap quote no matter how many items you tell them you’re moving. Once you accept their quote they’ll instantly need a deposit which is usually half of the quote ( the other half is due upon delivery) the catch is once the movers arrive your initial quote will be about 3-4K lower than your actual TOTAL moving cost. Once the shock of the cost increase wears off you have two options. 1) pay the inflated price 2) cancel the move and lose your deposit. Be warned they don’t care after they get your money for the deposit and your move will cost thousands more than the quote.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6300

Official company response

Hello Marvin this is the owner, we spoke extensively throughout your move. You even called us at 12:30am which we answered, and handled all your questions and answers. You did not however get the resolution you were looking for, so we were expecting this bad review. We as a company are no longer interested in the slander, horrible names, and horrible false stories you have been telling about your move. We wholeheartedly accept this bad review knowing it was going to be malicious and one sided. You gave an inventory the day of booking and you weren't even present in the home so it was way off. Then the Quality Assurance attempted to adjust your inventory before the truck ever arrived, and every time we spoke you "weren't available" to do this. You were FINALLY available to adjust your inventory, after hours, the night before the truck arrived, with less than 12 hours notice of the trucks arrival. You were unavailable, gave a very vague inaccurate inventory, and not present on pickup, yet claim "Keystone" purposely left things off your inventory. This is one we will agree to disagree on. You went up by over 500 cubic feet of items (numerous extra boxes and pieces) not disclosed to our company, and were charged EXACTLY to the penny on the increases. We quoted you for exactly what you told us. Because you added so many extra pieces the price went up. Being prepare is Paramount when doing a long distance move, you were safely picked up on time, everything properly packaged, and delivered on time with no damages. Your complaint is simply due to the fact that you had a TON more items you didn't tell us about and regardless you were still accommodated the day of.. however you did have to pay extra for the overages.

Deposit not refunded.

Leading up to my quote, everyone was cordial & very detailed as to how the moving process works as I had never experienced it before. I had to however cancel the transaction suddenly due to a death in the family. I have reached out to every person I had spoke to in an attempt to get my deposit of $750 back. I was even told “someone would get back to me” & no one ever did. I’m a single Mom who just lost a close family member & NEED this money. Being ignored in my opinion is extremely poor business practice. I sure hope someone reads this that can make a difference. Businesses are so quick to take your money, but when the roles are reversed, not so much! ? Jen- WA state.

Official company response

Customer the day of move with the carrier and did not inform Keystone of this cancellation, we found out by the carrier who was in route to the origin; called Keystone let us know of the cancellation. 4/09 Samantha reached out to ask question about cancellation and customer did not answer, she left a voicemail. Did not have any word from the customer.
We do apologize for the miscommunication or misunderstanding. I am the new Office Manager and I was looking at all the notes regarding your move TX to WA. You signed your estimate 4/06/2020 with Frank and again on 04/07/2020. Your move date was set for 4/8-09/2020. We did our job as for as coordinating your move. We sent a reliable and professional carrier on your job as schedule to be there in 3 days to service your move. I understand you are asking for the deposit back, but as stated in the estimate you signed that the deposit was non refundable, due to you booked within 7 days of your move date. We understand life comes up but we would like the customer to know that the deposit goes towards coordinating the move; this includes reserving the truck, getting the drivers, material, and etc. so 60% of that deposit is disperse for the coordination of the customer move. If we would have heard from the customer we could have tried to work something, no guarantees but would have tried to figure something out. We do thank the customer for the feedback and pray they have a wonderful 2021!!!

Once they took our deposit they were no help. They quoted me for 36 items to move and when it was all said and done we paid $3,911 MORE than they gave us a BINDING estimate for. There was no misunderstanding or anything changing from the BINDING estimate. Jerry is a liar and stole $3911 from my retired sister. Double charged us for services that were to be included. That ask for cash only and no credit cards for a reason. I’d give them 0 stars if I could.

Daniel Pollet P6746043, was moved on 5/4/2020 he only had 626cf @ $5.00 per cube on original estimate with Keystone. The Customer went through quality assurance before pickup on 5/1/2020 to make any last minute revisions to his move, no changes were made. We requested the paperwork in order to determine if the customer was being charged accordingly. When we received the paperwork the customer agreed with the carrier for a flat rate of $7262.00. The customer had 17 more items and a few of his items were bulky or larger than average size. The Customer also put a BBB review up and it was closed out as well. We no longer use Evergreen Relocation Services 21330 Parthenia St Canoga Park DOT 3061872 MC 55745. We part ways with them not because of this customer but for other reasons. This is Keystone Moving Group responding to the complaint for Job# P6746043 Mr. Pollet. He booked with Keystone on 04/07/2020. Total estimate was $3350.02. Customer also had a Quality Assurance call on 5/01/2020 to go over inventory one last time, and at this time there were only slight adjustments this kept the estimate the same quoted price. On the day of the move 05/04/2020, Keystone received a call from the carrier stating that the customer had additional items and most of the customer items were bulky, larger then average size. In this case the items would be using more volume(space) on the truck. Customer did not at the time have his televisions packed and needed additional packing for other items as well. We went through the paperwork and seen that carrier and the customer agreed to a flat binding price at $7262.00 in which the customer signed. With the total being 7262.00-1065.20 deposit= $6196.80-3100.00(pick up payment)= remaining balance $3096.80. The customer was given the proper phone call before the truck arrived to give his full inventory at the time of the Quality Assurance call and did not provide all the inventory, nor was the company informed by customer that items were bulky which is properly described on the signed contract. We do mention this in the estimate that the customer signed at the time of booking, under Additional fees in which it mentions bulky items, packing, and etc. Being that the customer signed for the revisions and agreed with the carrier for the flat rate, this does cover all the responsibilities of Keystone Moving Group to properly accomodate the customer before arrival of the truck for any additional costs he may incur, via Phone Call, Email, and Customer Service invested in the customer.

The attached contract and documents below will show that the customer was properly informed of all additional costs, as well as the paperwork signed by the customer agreeing to the costs the day of pickup with Keystone Moving Group and the Carrier involved in the agreement.

Do Not Use This Company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I setup a move from Aurora, CO to Frisco, TX. After submitting my inventory and making some adjustments, they gave me a final quote that was not supposed to change unless we added more stuff. HM Moving and Delivery company showed up with no packaging material, not enough boxes, and only 2 people. The quote changed instantly and increased from ~ $7000 ~$10,000. The company said they "weren't aware" the quote included packing even though it was clearly stated it did. The quote was for a 4 hr pack and ship and it ended up taking 17 hours over the course of 2 days. The showed up late both days.

My ship to date constantly changed and ended up being 9 days later than quoted, outside of the contractual obligated date. It came in two shipments instead of one.

Even after asking numerous times, I never received the paperwork from HM Moving. Keystone has stated they never received the paperwork from HM Moving. Keystone stated "You'll just have to sue them" as a final response.

The majority of my belongings were damaged. Keystone stated, in writing, they would take care of the insurance submission on my behalf on 4/17/2020. To date, they have not. Instead they have continuously dodged my phone calls and emails. When they do respond, it has been with incorrect and misleading information constantly.

HM Moving and Keystone have been non-responsive ever since. HM Moving has no website and no way to contact them outside of a phone number.

Keystone has engaged, like every other 1 star review here and on google, in deceptive practices, bait and switch, and a Myriad of bad practices as a business.

Keystone Moving Group responding to the following complaint for Royal Rosario. I started at Keystone in June and have been getting all the facts for his move. When we put carriers on our jobs, we trust that they are going to go out and do a great service for our customers and do it with integrity. The customer have expressed about the claims information which was sent over to him several times, the carrier H&M relocation do in house claims and we have sent the carrier all the emails concerning the customer`s damages, this information was provided by the customer and we forward to the carrier. We have been following up on the situation as well. We also have been contacting the carrier H&M Relocation who picked the customer up and Boost Express Van lines who delivered the customer for the customer`s final BOL so we could research to see if there were any discrepancies and neither one of the companies have complied with us on getting that information to us. Since I have taken over this matter, I have provided the customer with the arbitration steps to file against both companies, FMSCA information to file a complaint, also suggested that he may have to file a small claims against the two companies. He have then asked how to go to file small claims court for this matter, and the first step was to file the FMCSA complaint so they can start an investigation on both of the companies. We have provided the customer with both companies information and DOT numbers. we have showed the customer that we no longer work with these two carriers as well. I will forward all emails to show we have been in contact with the customer. We do have empathy in this situation. We are still working with the customer in this matter. Customer is requesting full refund in which we understand, but his job was serviced and delivered. He have damages in which the carrier is to handle through his claims department. We have sent all the next steps over to the customer to further proceed with his complaints on damages with the carriers. We will continue to be on the customers side to defend any complaints or next step of action towards the carriers. We thank you for your time and I will attach files as well.

Long-distance move from Maryland to Texas

MD to TX Move July 2020.

It's 8/18/20, I still don't have my belongings. A RUDE driver showed up on 8//15, a Saturday, with 22 pieces of 59 items & was paid $1100. The driver settled the bill 1st before unpacking. Of course, the driver & I had tension! Called Keystone. No results NOR reply from emails of pictures sent on 8/15/20. Keystone has YET to contact me.

I paid Keystone $400 to be my advocate.

Every person involved have their money; what are the chances I get my belongings?. You DECIDE: Do you like paying for service not received?. Kept in the dark where or if your belongings will arrive. Keystone sent money hungry, unprofessional movers to my home twice. Keystone CONTINUES to be M.I.A. Four different agents provided me with conflicting information or changed their obligation in the mist of the deal. KEYSTONE HAS YET TO CONTACT ME WITH COMPENSATION, A CALL, AN EMAIL, NOR A REPLY FROM OWNER.

I want my BELONGINGS, $400 from Keystone, + the extra $140 the 1st drivers gave themselves ($45 × 3 tip) not on the contract. Please learn from my COSTLY MISTAKES. I won't stop until I'm rectified.

Long-distance move from Kansas City, KS to Montrose, CO

Still waiting, still in the dark ..

Our items were picked up on June 6th, and despite calling nearly daily, I have no idea where they are, when they will be arriving, or if they’ll ever arrive. We have been told on 7 different occasions to expect a call from Boost Express Van Lines, who are on their way, but nothing has ever happened. I think our stuff is stolen, but I’ll update this weekly, and update the service cost once everything is done. I have a feeling I’ll be providing many updates over many weeks, even though it’s been over 50 days already since our pickup date. Will our stuff ever arrive?

Move size: Studio Service cost: $0

Official company response

Customer was delivered outside the 21 business days and as a compensation they did not have a remaining balance at the time of delivery. We no longer work with Boost due to this situation and we greatly apologized to the customer for this issue.

Long-distance move from Redwood City, CA to Orlando, FL

Fraud.

Background

I set up a move from Redwood City, CA to Orlando, FL via Keystone Moving Group. After sending pictures of all our inventory, on June 1, 2020 Keystone gave us a quote of 923 cubic feet at $5.75 per cubic foot. After sending videos of all our inventory (to get the most accurate quote), on June 9, 2020 Keystone gave us a quote of 1171 cubic feet at $5.75 per cubic foot. They said that the quote would only change if we increased our inventory (which we did not). They were supposed to arrange a one day move on June 27, 2020 with a guaranteed delivery for July 5, 2020. After a confusing contract (we did sign an agreement with Keystone; we did not sign an agreement with the moving company) the move started with Oasis Moving and Storage. On June 27, 2020 Oasis arrived with too few men at a later than promised start time. Oasis was terminated on June 28, 2020 after arriving late, again, with too few men and damaging the floors in the townhouse we were renting/vacating. Keystone was able to secure a new moving company, Black Bear Moving and Storage to pickup our items on June 29, 2020. Keystone prepared a new Agreement, but again we signed no contract with the mover (at the time the furniture was picked up and delivered, we did sign a Bill of Lading which was prepared by Black Bear). Black Bear delivered our furniture and household goods (some of which were damaged) on July 7, 2020.

Unfair and Deceptive Practice as to Charges: Overcharging by misrepresenting cubic feet

When Oasis arrived they quoted us 1600 cubic feet at $5.75 per cubic foot. Keystone adjusted the “binding quote” to reflect 1671 cubic feet prior to Black Bear arriving. When Black Bear arrived they quoted and charged us for 2450 cubic feet. They loaded our items into a 26 foot Enterprise box truck. Our items were delivered in a 26 foot Penske box truck. The exterior physical dimensions of the truck on drop-off, which we measured on video, totaled under 1700 cubic feet. Further, our items were transported with another customer's items, which the movers indicated amounted to approximately 200 cubic feet. Black Bear charged us for transporting 2,450 cubic feet, 44% more than could possibly be accommodated in the truck, and much greater than the 1,671 cubic foot “binding estimate”. Our household goods occupied no greater than 1,500 cubic feet.

Bait and switch

Multiple photos and videos were sent to Keystone for estimation of the cubic feet. The estimation provided was less than precise. The inventory lists completed by Keystone based on the photos and videos were confusing. For example, the inventory listed a “bed” without being told that a bed was the mattress without the box springs. The original under-estimate of the cubic feet through the inventory Keystone prepared according to the photos, videos, and text messages we supplied them succeeded in getting us to sign the broker contract in furtherance of the bait and switch cubic feet overcharge.

Other Issues

Prior to being terminated, Oasis packed our items in boxes with their packing material. Keystone put in the adjusted binding quote, $62 for packing material. Black Bear charged us for $1441 worth of packing material. There is no indication for what packing material equaling $1441 was used (because their packing material wasn't used!).

On July 8, 2020 a representative from Black Bear called to confirm delivery date and acknowledged they didn't meet the “guaranteed delivery” and said that the $1000 extra paid for the “guaranteed delivery” would be refunded to the credit card. No refund was ever processed as promised.

On July 23, 2020 we sent an email to Black Bear and Keystone regarding the concerns about the overcharges for the packing material and the cubic footage as well as the guaranteed delivery which we still haven't received a refund. On July 24, 2020 we disputed the overcharges with the credit card which was used to pay for the move. (Payment by credit card or otherwise was required as a precondition for delivery). As of July 29, 2020 we have not received a response from either Black Bear or Keystone.

In summary:

-Keystone grossly misquoted the cubic feet, assigned an unreliable and unprofessional moving company (Oasis), and then assigned a moving company (Black Bear) that overcharged the cubic feet and charged for services/materials that were not rendered/supplied.

-Oasis sent too few men, was late on multiple occasions, and damaged the floors

-Black Bear overcharged for packing material and cubic feet as well as missed guaranteed delivery window and has not given a refund as previously promised

-Keystone and Black Bear haven't responded to our email with concerns and request for a refund of the overages.

Long-distance move from Providence, RI to Baltimore, MD

You Get What You Pay For..TERRIBLE EVERYTHING.

Found via a moving quote website. They actively pursued business and seemed transparent enough, delivering the cheapest price. Day of move, showed up half a day late after telling me on the phone they were "down the street, turning on our road" hours before. Up charged us 35% on the initial pack from pick up. That’s how they do business based on reviews from multiple sites. Broad or bad quote upfront, then they pack a rented Budget truck with hired hands day of, over charging based on how they pack. Gives them flexibility to play with dimensions of a truck and pack to upcharge.

Delivery WAS AWFUL. I have moved more times than I can count in my past military days and have worked with tons of companies nationally and globally. This was a distance of 6 hours..they ghosted my phone calls majority of time. Eventually when I would get someone on the phone, they would promise next day delivery..this continued for nearly two weeks!!Plenty of excuses as to why they didn’t deliver on multiple promised dates (driver sick, driver didn't wake up, slow commute, transport issues, family issues etc). I almost filed a report for lost/stolen goods. Delivery showed up 14 days later for what should have been easily delivered in 1-2 days..6-hour commute?!

Showed up and threatened to not deliver property if not paid up front (without proving they were even delivering our stuff). Very unprofessional. Rude. Made a mess of our bathroom when leaving.. Lots of damage on our furniture, which a claim is being filed. But knowing them..probably won’t get back $1 dollar. Lesson learned, don’t try to save money. Hire a nationally recognized, branded, 100% insured moving company with a legitimate reputable name.

Customer was fully serviced and when we followed up with the customer there were no complaints. On 8/25/2020 at 2:17pm customer was called for a Quality Assurance call and he stated he did not have a change to his inventory. Once the carrier arrived the customer had additional items, therefore his cubic feet went up and the price increased. At the time of pickup the customer did not complain. On 8/28 we did a follow up call with the customer and no complaints were done at that time. There was a delay on delivery and we sent a delivery email to the customer explaining the delivery process and that dates and times are estimates only. After the delivery the customer states he had damages and we sent him over the claims information so he can process his claims.

Great Moving Company

Keystone Moving Group member Bernard Bishop went above and beyond to make sure my move went smoothly and stress-free. I visited several moving companies prior and Bernard was the most punctual and made sure all of my expectations were met. Its hard to find a company that actually treats your belongings with care and no damages, Keystone did exactly what they promised. They wrapped my belongings as if it were their keepsake with so much thought and care which was very important to me moving my family heirlooms. Also, Mr. Bishop made sure I understood everything I was signing and upheld each commitment. My family and I moved from Florida to Georgia with no hassle mentally nor financially with the help of Keystone. I've recommended their services to many of my colleagues and if in the future I need to move again I will definitely use their services again.

AVOID like the plague

I used Keystone to move a storage locker from the east coast to the west. I was given instructions to pay 1/3 up front, 1/3 at pickup, and the rest at the time of delivery. But the night before the move, the quality assurance department increased the estimate by $900 which I paid immediately so it would not affect the pickup and delivery amounts. No one told me the payment was recalled by someone at Keystone. I had wired the pickup fee to my representative at the origin. This was no longer the correct amount since now there was also a $900 amount added to that. I could not wire more money. The accepted the payment and my things and all seemed fine. FOUR DAYS later, I found out by CHANCE (I called the Keystone office to find out what the delivery balance would be) that without the extra money required by the $900 amount, and $400 additional services, they did not ship my things. IN FACT, they unloaded them in a warehouse in another state because they didn't have enough money. But where was my call? Who told me? NOBODY. So my payment of the correct amount meant waiting another few days until they could get the labor and resources to RE-LOAD the contents back into an available truck. A delay of a week, my things unloaded and loaded, TWICE, and a parrot on the phone re-stating over and over "it stated in the contract that ...". I tried to tell this parrot that the reversal of that payment was the reason we are in this mess. "But ma'am it stated in the contract ..."

If you use these people, you will have a nightmare move!!!

11/19/2020 We serviced Anna L on 10/31/2020 her exact cf quoted which was based on her items she provided in a storage unit that she was not present at was 496cf which is an estimate. When the customer went through QA she went up 195 cf which was an estimated cf of 691.When the carrier arrived there she had an additional 100cf and they adjusted accordingly. When she went through QA her deposit for the additional space went directly to the carrier, so we did not take the money from her at that time. This left her with a higher pickup and delivery amount. While the carrier was there the customer son was not listening to the carrier while he explained what was taking place, he was yelling to the point his girlfriend stepped in and explained to the customer Ana that she understands everything going on and even said on a record line Mrs. Ana you know how your son can be. They eventual worked it out and the move proceeded. The customer was stating about the delivery and she did not pay for straight delivery/premium delivery; she was picked up on 10/31 and she was loaded on 11/9 and delivered on 11/17 and when the carrier got there to the destination she pulled a knife on them. We assisted the customer to the best of our knowledge and her items arrived in one piece no complaints of damages. We never lied or low balled the customer at all. Our estimate was a 100 cf off from what she gave us. The only part she is really upset about is that she had a higher balance in which the rep should have let her know we were not going to collect the Quality Assurance money that we were going to leave it to the carrier for the shipping of her items. We do apologize for that miscommunication but other than that she was serviced properly. Thank you for the feed back we will improve with better communication to the customer. Read less

Inaccurate Quote

I do not recommend this company. They quoted me a very low amount which made it attractive to book. A week before the move the quality assurance increases it by $1K. Then the movers get there and charge me $3K more then that. Over all move cost me over $7K. Then after major issues with the mover they promised a paperwork review and that never happened. They stopped answering my calls.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7506

Official company response

It was a pleasure working with Ms. Depaul. We truly did our best to make sure her move went smoothly as possible. Everything she requested we made sure she had for her apartment complexes and the only may concern at the time was the delivery and the reservation of the elevator for her new complex. She was upset about the delivery and the guys did arrive the following day on Sunday, we apologized for that delayed. We did look over your paperwork again and did not find any discrepancies, but would like to remind the customer that our quotes are just estimates. We do our best to give an estimate that is cost sufficient to the customers move with the information the customer provides the company. The move went from 64 pieces to over 90 pieces, this also increased the packing cost. This is a significant change in the cubic feet and in the price. At the time of pickup the customer is explained in detail the changes before signing or loading of any items, at this time we did not receive any information from the customer that she was upset with the increase, but the foreman called me to inform me of the increase and I did tell the customer I would check the paperwork to see if there are any discrepancies at all.
Our company do provide a quality assurance call 3 to 4 days before the initial move date to reassure that everything the customer is taking on the truck is accounted for before being loaded. The quality assurance did increase from 23 pieces to 64 pieces which was 41 more items. yes the price did increase due to the cubic feet going up 223cf. We do understand the customers statement, but we went by the information that was given to us. We did review the paperwork and there were no discrepancies.
We do not intentionally miss or ignore any calls from the customer. I do make it my duty to answer every call or to email. If I missed a call I will return the call to the customer as soon as possible. We do apologize if I missed your call and did not return it, we try to keep open communication with all our customers. We apologize. I will review the paperwork again for the customer to make sure there are no discrepancies. We do thank the customer for the feedback and will work on these issues and improve as a company, we want the customers to be satisfied. Thank you again and have a blessed and prosperous week and enjoy your new home.

Good Work!

It was very easy to book a van and delivery drivers. The office staff asked me all the relevant questions, so I hardly had to think! The price was very competitive. Do your research!! Don’t get hustled!!

Talking to Frank about the move was ok. I have to admit he hooked me about showing me no negative reviews, but doing some more research I found out there are multiple people in the same situation. I told him everything I had and the cost was going to be about 4K. Come to find out once they got my deposit of 1200 they handed me off to Bernard. I went in to GREAT detail about what I had and then looked at the inventory HE took and it was completely off. A four bedroom home that only utilizes 60 medium boxes and that was all he had in there, not to mention a bunk bed with a trundle, so that means 3 twin size mattresses. I couldn’t stress this enough, so he called me back an hour or so later after going in to great detail with him what I had, another $1200ish. So I paid him. The. The moving day came. I was told Saturday at 0900. Nothing. Then 1200. Nothing. Then I get a call at 1pm saying they are having truck problems, which I understand and was told that they would be there on Sunday around noon. Finally at 3 pm 1 guy shows up. Then an hour later another guy shows up finally got the whole house packed up by 10pm. With my wife and 3 children waiting. Me expecting maybe another 1200 I was charged $2800. Ok so I asked what the balance was left and I was told that I would have to pay about $1000. Ok cool. Well now I have to pay another $1800 when they deliver it. I’m in it close to $7000 when I could have done all the work myself and still have less the headache. But I am sure that it’ll be me that doesn’t know anything about moving ( even though I’ve had multiple military moves)It’s not even about the money, it’s the fact that I got hustled. And I got a discount too because I am retired military. I will never use this company again. I would rather pay the 10k and use a more established company who outsourced their help through a temp agency. Complete garbage. P6761789

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7000

Official company response

We did speak regarding the review you posted and I explained to you that I would listen to all regarding and speak to dispatch to re-measure your load prior to loading your items for delivery. The dispatch did re-measure the load for us and it was actually 235 cf more but they only charged for 226cf more at the time of pickup. I also explained I would listen to the recording between yourself and Bernard during the quality assurance call. It did take me three days to listen to.
First and foremost I would like to apologize for him eating on the phone with you during this call. I did hear that and I explained to him he can not do that with any customer. He apologized.
Bernard did go over your inventory with you several times and also mention the items to you that you took off such as a twin mattress, air compressor, computer desk, desk chair, paint rig, sawhorse, and etc.
You did add a large freezer, hall tree, 6 lrg totes, 15 med totes, 3 sm totes, footboard and etc.
What we provide is an estimate and we try to be as close to the amount that your move will be. Unfortunately we are not there at the site for pickup, but the carrier does send us pictures of the truck once loaded and like I mentioned before that I did have them re-measure your load and it was a little over than the cubic feet you were charged for.
Also the loading of the truck depends on if they can stack certain items on top of other items, example your piano they can not stack anything on it, to prevent damages. So therefore there is dead space on the truck which is going to lead to more space used for other items.
We do apologize that the carrier was a day late in picking you up due to some delays on the road, but they did compensate you for $250 for the delay and another $90.40 for the overages. I am truly grateful for them for doing that to service your move.
I know at this time you were delivered but if there is anything else we can do for you and your family please let us know. We do our best to be upfront with the customers and to explain everything in details as well.

We pray you and your family enjoy your new home and be safe and God's Blessings to you all.

Poor communication skills at best

Horrible company to work with. They were 4 days late on picking up our house, causing us fees. They have now had our stuff for 2 months with no sign of delivery. They give zero updates, the owner “Christina” has yelled and swore and me and my wife, not very professional. They have all of my sons documents so he cant even be enrolled into school, he’s 7, and cant go to school. Not only that but they dont even follow how they say their company is going to pack larger items, my 2 motorcycles should have been packed into crates, nope, I’m sure they will be dented and scratched when I get them back. When confronted about their poor communication skills they claim their responses to reviews on other sites count as communication. Whatever

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6000

Official company response

Mr. Carson please stop lying on me I have never Swore or Yelled at you or your wife because I do not swear. Why would you do this because you want your items. We are working on this for you and you have left reviews on every site. We understand your upset and want your belongings. We are apologetic to the situation but I know my team is doing their best to stay on top of the carrier for your delivery.
Lets talk about the pickup yes we had a carrier out there and it was late, so I sent them away and I promptly got another carrier on your job and had you out the house before 1pm that day. We also compensated you $1000 for this delay and our mistake. Again you were to be in storage for 60 days waiting until 3 weeks later after your pickup and demanding your delivery by 4/8 and we explained numerous time this will be the date your items are prepared for the delivery not the date you will be delivered, they have 21 business days not including holidays or weekends, all the trucks are in route and they have to wait till they come back in. The crating of your scooters/ motorcycle/ 2 wheel vehicle (1SCOOTER (NOT INCLUDING CRATE) that is on the inventory you and your wife provided to us, motorcycles is not listed on the inventory your wife provided because it is not a household good but we agreed to take the 1 scooter she put on the list. Also the carriers ask your wife Holly to crate the scooters/motorcycle/ 2- wheel vehicles and it would cost extra because in terms they were not scooters and were motorcycles so if we would have known this then of course we would have put it on the estimate as such and charged for the crating. At the time your wife Holly did not want to pay for the crating of your motorcycles/scooters/2 wheel vehicles. We can not have trucks just on standby for when the customer says I am ready, the trucks are always moving no matter what and in this case there were a couple of delays due to waiting on a truck to return from its route, vaccine for drivers for in which drivers got sick, something that is completely out of our hands. We want your items to get to you as soon as possible as well, but doing this is not going to make it move any faster. All we can do is update you when we have information regarding the eta. If you would like the paperwork that is sign I will be happy to forward where the first available delivery date is 5/5 and technically they can go by that first available delivery date being that is the date your wife put on the paperwork and signed for. We are trying to get this out to you as soon as possible. We do apologize and we are working on this. Top right hand corner of paperwork with the order number, pickup date, and 1st available delivery date. So please just let us continue to work on this for you. Thank you and have a blessed day. Talk to you soon via text or email. Ben & Holly Carson EW6176538 order number 03/06/2021 pickup date late pickup 05/05/2021 1st available delivery date. Mrs. Holly also signed all paperwork Digitally they would not have loaded you until that paperwork is signed. Erica is getting everything worked out. Again we apologize for this inconvenience this has caused you and your family, we are praying you get delivered soon as possible. We are upset as well and we are working on this.....

Move from NY to FL

Keystone movers are reasonable to good company to work with but I really think that it depends heavily on which area. They are handlers and work with different shipping/trucking companies. We moved from upstate NY to Florida and they work with Fastlinkmovers (PA). We had an overall good experience especially taken into account that it's very hectic at the moment. We had a 26 ft truck for ourselves and that helped a lot as they filled it up and 5 days later it was in florida. The issue is that if you don't have a full truck you might end up being depending on others (shared truck) and than it can take a long time. There is no guarantee on when stuff arrives.

Some other remarks. I think their quote is correct but you need to read the fine prints. Surcharges can add up. We paid exactly what was quoted. No surcharges at all.

Christina and Allie were very responsive and available however they do send a lot of auto generated emails which is often confusing. Overall it could not have gone much better given the COVID situation. We are overall satisfied.

Long-distance move from Saint Louis, MO to Sarasota, FL

Nightmare turned into a great experience.

My 69 year old mother fell out of bed and broke her femur the day after Christmas. Luckily I was visiting her for the holidays when it happened. After a long heated discussion with my husband we decided to have her move into our guest house to live with us in Sarasota, FL. Being the first time I've looked for a state to state moving company I had no clue I would get what must have been 50 phone calls over a 2 day period. I ended up making the decision to go with a company which I shall not name because I don't like bashing businesses. What I will say is they showed up in a small beat up truck with graffiti on the side with two guys who smelled like they just finished polishing off a bottle of liquor. We needed her stuff moved out that day because my husband and I were already beginning to miss work (we were still with my mother in St.Louis). The last straw with this horrid company is when the driver told me they were going to charge me $500 to pack up my mother's glass china cabinet.. Oh and did I forget to mention that they said the price would probably be triple what I was initially quoted even though I reserved the entire truck when I first setup the move?? They then proceeded to tell me that that was just an estimate and this is the real price, they even said their tip wasn't included in this new outrageous price. My husband finally blew up and using some choice words told them to get lost.

I had received a quote from an employee at keystone over the phone during my initial search. Their quote was higher than what I wanted to pay but they also had some of the best reviews out of all the other companies I looked at. My husband called them and they immediately called one of their crews and had them come out to our house 3 hours later. We made the decision to pay keystone a large deposit after we probably lost the first one with dumb and dumber (we eventually got our money back from the first company). They sold us on "binding" quote and their reviews. The movers show up dressed well NOT smelling like liquor and immediately got to work. They wrapped up her china cabinet for $50 and loaded up the truck within 7 hours. They took their time wrapping up everything and carried out everything one piece at a time. The final price went up $50 for the china cabinet. They delivered everything in great condition and didn't ask for a penny more. They answered all of my phone calls. Overall hire this company if your looking to move, their price might be higher than some other quotes but it is 100% worth saving yourself a huge headache. Thank you Jerry and Samantha!

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Jacksonville, FL

I'm happy.

I don't use reviews much and had help creating this account from my son. I wanted to tell other people about my experience with this company. I moved from Denver to Jacksonville at the end of November. My son asked for movers on google and got multiple phone calls. Out of all of the people he spoke with he liked Carly with this company. I spoke to her the next day and she quoted us at $4032 and said the price wouldn't go up. Their reviews were also exceptional and she warned us about scam moving companies. I made the decision to go with Carly and paid a deposit. They hired another company to come do the move for us. The driver wanted to charge us $400 more for a motorcycle we decided to bring but ended up settling on $200 after I spoke with the manager at Keystone. They did a fantastic job otherwise and everything was secure on the truck. I got my stuff about a week later and the driver was very nice and friendly. My stuff is not damaged and nothing missing. I scheduled another move with them for my daughter who is planning to move in the next month. I recommend them to anyone else moving.
